ABOUT MICHELLE MERRILL
I am an award-winning expert in international sustainability and teaching and learning, with a diverse background in systems and complexity, biologically-inspired design, evolution and ecology. Over decades of research, I have worked in Asia and Africa, gaining skills in bridging concepts from diverse disciplines and cultures. I am a published author and editor, a respected educator, and accomplished international speaker.Leadership roles in nonprofits are my favorite challenge. I served as Internal Coordinator for the US & Canada region in Scientist Rebellion Turtle Island, where I contributed to significant growth in organizational outreach. I am on the Advisory Board of The Resilient Activist, helping shape programming. I founded and organized Novasutras, an eco-spiritual gathering space where we consciously reawaken our deepest sense of the living world to work through our grief, reclaim our joy, grow trusted relationships, and take meaningful action. My interests are teaching, learning, the evolution of culture and culture change, and applying those concepts to sustainability: how we can connect with, learn from and teach one another to co-create a resilient, regenerative future. I engage principles, examples and metaphors from ecology and evolutionary biology in solving human design problems in both the social and technological arenas, especially systems thinking and biomimicry.
