ABOUT MICHELLE M. BAUGHMAN

I love learning. I earned four degrees in seven years. I have also earned a Real Estate License from the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, and I have earned an e-learning certification from the State of Connecticut Department of Developmental Services to work with individuals with developmental disabilities. I also earned a similar certification from the Capitol Region Education Council Direct Care Training Program. I put myself through college working as an Office Temp. This was an excellent experience for me because it allowed me to put into practice the things that I was learning in my college classes, gain practical work experience that was relevant to my chosen career, and it gave me a tremendous amount of confidence. I used to be painfully shy in my youth, but working helped me to overcome that. As an office temp I was constantly put into new and often unfamiliar situations where I succeeded in becoming acclimated and productive in a very short time. I attribute this success to my intellectual curiosity, my creativity, my ability to learn new information quickly, and my solution oriented thinking. For the past eighteen years I made raising my family a priority over developing my career. However, I kept myself busy with volunteer organizations and part time jobs where my clerical, computer, and interpersonal skills were an asset. Now I am eager to re-enter the career-track workforce. My passions include working with youth, the environment, history, education and learning. As an educator, I draw upon my vast background knowledge to answer questions in relatable, easy to understand terms. I can quickly assess my audience and draw upon illustrations that are familiar to them. I am looking for employment in an environment in which I can continue to learn and educate others.
