ABOUT MICHELLE LANDRY
Michelle Landry is a geoscientist aiming to specialize in remediation and reclamation practices. Research under Dr. Duane Froese at the University of Alberta provided an in-depth analysis of multiple areas of permafrost soils affected by drilling waste contamination in the Sahtu region, NWT. Updating surficial geology maps, conducting hazard mapping and geophysical surveying was used to assist in recommendations for the remediation of contaminated sumps experiencing gradual thaw in the region. This research was accomplished over a period of 2.5 years, involving continuous monitoring and mapping in remote locations by helicopter where degrading drilling waste sumps were present.
