ABOUT MICHELLE HERNANDEZ

Michelle Hernandez is a first-generation, low-income student at Princeton University majoring in Public and International Affairs. She was accepted to five Ivy League institutions and is passionate about cultural representation, language, and educational equity on a global scale. She earned the Prix du Jury (Top Prize) out of 100+ teams at Le Congrès de la Culture Française for an original saynète on La Négritude, and placed first in Declamation with perfect scores for her memorized recitation of Clair de Lune — a feat she repeated solo the following year, making history as the only student to do so at her school. Michelle has conducted sociolinguistic research with Dr. Phillip M. Carter, exploring the linguistic legacy of Africans in America. She also created and served as Director of Outreach for FBLA District 26, leading regional volunteer expansion and engagement efforts. As an ENGin Ambassador, she helped secure over in funding to support Ukrainian education and advocacy. A Silver Knight Nominee and community mentor, Michelle has organized cultural events with attendees and continues to advocate for Indigenous and immigrant voices through research, storytelling, and service-driven leadership.
