ABOUT MICHELLE FRILUND
For over 20 years Michelle Frilund has led and supported communications for non-profit organizations, as well as every level of government. In recent years she shifted her focus to public participation and community engagement, as well as equity, diversity and inclusion. In her role as Civic Engagement Manager for the City of Coquitlam, she successfully delivered the community’s first-ever Community Engagement Framework and is now heading up the City’s Communications and Civic Engagement team. Michelle is a natural strategist, considering all angles of the problem and connecting people and ideas in order to see a solution. She has a keen instinct for media and reputation management. She is able to translate policy to action and committed to bringing people along in the work she does. Michelle has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Simon Fraser University, is an IABC Silver Leaf award-winning communicator, an IAP2 Certified Public Participation Practitioner (CP3) and a member of the IAP2 BC/Yukon Board of Directors.
