ABOUT MICHELLE BARROW DPROF

Academic and Clinical Director at the Centre for Nutrition Education and Lifestyle Management (CNELM). CNELM is a private educational centre providing high quality, accessible, globally relevant and engaging distance learning education. Michelle leads and directs a portfolio of university-validated academic programmes and clinical nutrition and coaching courses. She is Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Nutritional Science, Institutional Link Tutor, Research Supervisor, and internal member of the Research Ethics Committee. In addition, Michelle is an External Examiner at the University of Portsmouth and PhD Research Supervisor at Middlesex University, the University of West London, and the University of Central Lancaster. Michelle is also on the Editorial Board of BANT Nutrition Evidence Database, the only scientific database that specialises in nutrition and lifestyle medicine. Michelle completed a Doctorate in Professional Studies (DProf) in 2019, titled “Leading transformation in Personalised Nutrition Practice”. Her doctoral research included the construction of clinical tools to enable the development of a new evidence base for personalised nutrition practice in obesity management. Michelle continues to work on the development of robust translational bioinformatics tools, using pathophysiological reasoning and systems biology approaches, as they are key to achieving evidence based personalised nutrition practice. A passionate advocate for lifelong learning, Michelle actively engages in ongoing professional development. She has recently achieved Senior Fellowship with Advance HE (SFHEA) and a Chartered Management Institute Level 7 qualification in Leadership Coaching and Mentoring. Michelle is a UKVRN Registered Nutrition (RNutr) and was awarded ellowship of the British Association of Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) in 2017 for outstanding contribution to the profession.Through her academic leadership, research supervision, post-doctoral work, and publications, Michelle remains committed to strengthening the evidence base for personalised nutrition practice.
