About Michel Foure

Michel Fouré is the CEO of Berkeley Grant Writing LLC a firm devoted to helping companies to write extremely effective research grant proposals. He regularly leads workshops on the topic at the meetings of the Electrochemical Society in the context of the ECS Professional Development program. Michel is also the Founder of Berkeley Interview Consulting whose mission are (i) helping students, graduate students and postdocs to start their career in Industry, and (ii) coaching and mentoring scientists to help them navigate the white waters of their career. He also regularly assists the NSF I-Corps and DOE Lab-Corps programs as an Industry Mentor. In 2019, Michel re-joined Arkema as a Senior Technical Adviser to the company. Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Michel joined LBNL in 2010. He was the Program Manager for the Batteries for Advanced Transportation Technologies (DOE BATT) Program. He also served as the Research Operations Deputy for the Energy Storage & Distributed Resources Division. During his tenure at Berkeley Lab, Michel reviewed well over 600 proposals (DOE BATT, SBIR, ARPA-E, BES, Sunshot, Small Business Vouchers, Cyclotron Road.). He also served as a reviewer for the French ANR and the DOE Quadrennial Technology Review. Prior Experience Prior to joining LBNL, Michel was Director of R&D for Arkema, Inc- a $11 billion chemical company. He was the PI and architect of three major proposals in the area of Fuel Cells that were subsequently funded by the DOE, raising in excess of $15 million for Arkema and its partners. Prior to these assignments, between 1989 and 1993, he was President and Managing Director of Metablen Company B.V.(a then newly formed joint-venture between Arkema’s predecessor company and Mitsubishi Rayon). Based in Paris, France, the company grew from nearly zero to $20 million in sales (corresponding to 95% of the plant capacity) under his leadership. Michel has re-joined Arkema since 2019 as a Senior Technical Adviser.
