ABOUT MICHAEL ZELNIKER

Michael is a lifelong environmentalist with long time memberships in the Sierra Club, NRDC, the Audubon Society and Greenpeace. Born and raised in Montreal, Michael is an award winning actor and filmmaker, who after more than 30 years working on film, television and theater stages all over the world and 14 years teaching and training actors and filmmakers at the Los Angeles campuses of the New York Film Academy and AMDA College and Conservatory for the Performing Arts, Michael left his job to work full time as a volunteer to try and help solve the climate crisis. In 2018, soon after being trained by former Vice President Al Gore, Michael was elected Co-Chair of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Climate Reality Project, a position that Michael held for almost 3 years. His documentary,\"The Issue with Tissue - a boreal love story\" about the boreal forest and the Indigenous Peoples who call it home, has just completed a highly successful theatrical run in Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal, Marin County and Quebec City. Screening at film festivals across North America,\"The Issue with Tissue\" was recognized with a nomination for the 2023 Next Generation Indie Film Awards Best Documentary Feature and as the Audience Choice Runner-up Award at the 2022 Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival. It will be available on various streaming platforms in early 2024. Michael is currently in production on a documentary about water and women on the frontlines, around the world, who are leading a courageous fight to protect and defend it.
