ABOUT MICHAELYN BAUR

I work at the nexus of sustainable development, agriculture & trade, delivering cutting edge solutions for transformative change. My work engages along entire supply chains, from smallholder producers to large agroindustrial actors, traders, multinational corporations, governments, donors and consumers, and my expertise spans many sectors, including coffee, cacao, sugar, palm oil, livestock, vanilla, gold, spices, and non-timber forest products (nuts, allspice), among others. I focus attention on perception, spirit, and values to facilitate complex systems change for the most pressing issues of our time—food security, sustainable land use, climate change mitigation and adaptation, renewable energy, resource scarcity, conflict, poverty reduction, good governance and social inclusion and justice. I\'m adept at building high-performing, multi-cultural teams and alliances to scale and accelerate enduring change, and nurturing generational transition, knowledge transfer, conflict resolution, and the professional and personal development of existing and emerging leaders across multiple sectors, interests, geographies and disciplines. As a seasoned leader, I seek to unleash the talents of empowered colleagues through mentoring and coaching, motivating them as a team to develop ambitious goals and achieve high impact on global issues at scale. I possess strategic, analytical, and critical thinking skills in complex, multi-stakeholder systems for the development of high-impact partnerships, facilitating dialog and consensus building for the co-design of innovative solutions that simultaneously address poverty, inequality, and imperiled ecosystems. I actively seek opportunities to dismantle inequitable systems and injustice in all its forms, and create a strong sense of belonging amongst my colleagues and others in my sphere of influence. I am adept at communicating complex ideas that resonate with a wide range of actors, from smallholder coffee producers to research institutions, donors, investors, CEOs, and Ministers, to a diversity of media outlets, and am an experienced public speaker and storyteller verbally and in written and visual forms.
