ABOUT MICHAEL TAM

I am the Program Lawyer, Professional Graduate & International Programs at Osgoode Professional Development (OsgoodePD). I am a passionate advocate for diversity, inclusion, and equity, particularly for internationally trained lawyers and NCA candidates. As the career advisor for all OsgoodePD students I provided comprehensive support, including guidance on recruitment processes, résumé and cover letter feedback, articling job search strategies, mock interviews, networking skills development, career transitions, accessing non-practicing roles, etc. In my current role I also develop LLM degree programs and graduate courses for both international and domestically trained lawyers and law students. I am always happy to discuss how OsgoodePD programs can help someone reach their academic and career goals. I am also always looking out for new instructors, speakers, and courses to develop.I am the Director of Policy and Advocacy at ITLNCA NetworkS. In this role, I am responsible for the On-Campus Interviews (OCIs) for ITL/NCA Candidates initiative, a part of the formal summer job recruitment process for major law firms and government organizations in Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary. I regularly host ITLNCA NetworkS career workshops and sessions for NCA candidates. In 2025, I am also a part of the leadership team of the inaugural ITL Conference.I hold an Honours B.Sc in Psychology, an LL.B. from the University of Leicester, and a research LL.M from the University of Toronto with a focus on human rights. I completed the NCA process in 2013 and have been called to the Ontario Bar since 2015 after articling in civil litigation and insurance defence. I have provided career advice and coaching to over a thousand NCA candidates and internationally trained lawyers.
