ABOUT MICHAEL WALTERS YOUNG
I am a passionate builder and sustainer of the greatest experiment in the history of humanity - the American Democracy. That is why I have spent nearly three decades nurturing and contributing to its foundation - local governments. While I spend most of my time and focus in managing and leading budget processes, I am a strategic thinker who uses the budget to reinvigorate, innovate and lead communities to a better tomorrow. My travels have taken me throughout this beautiful country from my hometown of Lawrence, Kansas to the north Boston suburbs (Lexington/Natick) to now Middle Tennessee (Nashville/Franklin). What I have learned is that we all want the same things - peace, security, stability, and a meaningful purpose in life. Local government is closest to the people. As a local government servant, I have the ability to make the greatest difference in citizens lives while enjoying a satisfying and gratifying life where my passions, my family and my friends can prosper. I work everyday to make a difference and leave this wonderful place better than how I found it.\"Not to be served, but to serve\" is not just a quote for me - they are my \"des mots pour vivre\"(words to live by). We all have a choice everyday to work to make things better. I choose to serve to honor my family, my faith, my communities, my university and my country.
