ABOUT MICHAEL S. BRODER
As long as I can remember, I’ve loved working with words and images. I\'ve also had a longtime passion for social justice. My career journey began when I discovered a path that let me bring those passions together: using my creative skills to support organizations tackling society’s most urgent problems. Some of my first positions were at AIDS organizations during the early years of the epidemic in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Those experiences led me to senior communications roles at schools of public health at Harvard and Berkeley. In 2016, I began a new chapter, becoming the first-ever director of communications at San Francisco State University\'s College of Health & Social Sciences. Most recently, I returned to Berkeley, where I currently serve as director of communications for the School of Education. I am also enrolled part-time in a master\'s program in Broadcast & Electronic Communication Arts, studying media theory and practice, including coursework in scriptwriting. I expect to complete the degree in Fall 2025.
