ABOUT MICHAEL ROSE
Michael is a journalism graduate of City, University of London who began his career in digital publishing as an editor for AOL’s Netscape portal, managing front-page and channel content. He went on to write and edit for Future Publishing (T3, Create), EMAP (Mojo, Q), and the British Medical Journal. As a Content Strategist and Launch Editor, he developed platforms including Freelance Advisor, Crunch, Study Group and Urban Student Life, building engaged online communities and social channels from the ground up. An early adopter of social media, he has long focused on using digital tools to connect people, share knowledge, and support wellbeing.Since 2012, Michael has worked in education, teaching across mainstream and alternative settings and supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs through both classroom and 1:1 mentoring roles. He first at The Dharma School in Brighton and recently at Baltonsborough Primary School (Somerset) as a class teacher and IT Coordinator, where he led Religious Studies, integrated mindfulness and philosophy into learning, and used creative technology to foster inclusion and bridge digital divides.Alongside his professional roles, Michael is a founding member of Journeyman Glastonbury & Frome, weekly men’s community groups supporting healthy masculinity and mentoring young men into adulthood. As a Buddhist practitioner and wellbeing facilitator, he has led meditation retreats, breathwork sessions & groups that support mental, emotional and behavioural change.Michael is now seeking a support, recovery, or facilitation role within community or third-sector services, where he can provide 1:1 mentoring and group support, developing person-centred plans and creating positive mental health and recovery outcomes for young people and adults. He brings experience working with children, adolescents and adults, strong communication skills, and a values-led commitment to inclusion, empowerment and sustainable change.
