ABOUT MICHAEL PARKER
Chartered Management Consultant and Associate Director at Arup with expertise in Business Change, Governance, Performance Measurement, Benefits Realisation, Communications, PMO Setup and Delivery, Organisational Strategy and Operating Model Design. Michael is passionate about driving the benefits of change and optimising the use of data to measure performance and actively inform decision-making. He has worked in the construction industry for almost 20 years, delivering transformation programmes for a range of public and private sector organisations. Previously he held programme management roles at a \'Big 4\' consulting firm, two global construction consultancies, and as Director of Operations at the UK\'s largest housing association.Away from the office Michael spends much of his time working toward addressing the widening skills gap in the construction industry through speaking in schools, mentoring young professionals and working closely with the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) as part of the Construction Skills Taskforce. In 2019 Michael founded \"Construction Careers LIVE\", an event for pupils to learn first-hand about careers in construction through talks and interactive activities with employers. He also founded and leads \"Run Brum Crew\", an England Athletics socially-driven running group in central Birmingham, together with its mentoring scheme for young people that is delivered in partnership with the charity Sport 4 Life.He has a background in construction project management and has completed a professional doctorate (DBA), MBA, AgilePM Practitioner, APMG Better Business Cases and Lean Six Sigma qualifications. Michael has been recognised in several industry awards including the APM Awards, MCA Awards and the City of Birmingham Business Awards - winning both \"Birmingham Young Professional of the Year\"(BYPY) and “Birmingham Business Employee of the Year”. Projects he has managed have consistently shown an innovative approach, balancing strong problem solving and analytical skills with considered communication.Conference presentations he has given include speeches at \'Project Challenge\' and the \'APMG International Showcase\' in London.
