As a Full Stack Engineer, I contributed to the design and development of a modern biomedical data platform, delivering both backend and frontend functionality. My responsibilities and achievements included:• Developing and maintaining a RESTful APIs in Python (FastAPI).• Building a performant, scalable React frontend using TypeScript and Vite.• Designing integrations with Elasticsearch, Neo4j graph databases, and Postgres (via SQLAlchemy) to support advanced data exploration and retrieval.• Implementing a bespoke query language to power a biomedical document search feature, enabling complex structured queries through a dedicated API route.• Leading the development of an LLM-powered chat interface using the AI SDK, allowing users to query the API in natural language, ask follow-up questions, and interact with search results conversationally.• Implemented API key functionality across the entire stack - including database, backend and frontend developer portal - to support secure, authenticated external access to the API.• Introduced organisation-based rate limiting for backend services to ensure fair usage and maintain system stability across high-volume enterprise clients.
