ABOUT MICHAEL MOSS
I am a manager and strategist with 8+ years’ global experience strengthening independent media using philanthropy, policy and advocacy tools. With a background in digital rights and media/tech policy, I have extensive experience driving change at the intersection of tech and media policy, journalist protection, and media development/sustainability in a context of technological and political change across the information ecosystem. From 2023, I worked as Program Manager for the OSF Global Expression Program where I designed and implemented grant making strategies to advance media and technology regulation, media sustainability/innovation, and journalist safety. I previously worked for the UK Communications Regulator Ofcom where I managed and advised on a wide range of strategy and policy areas. I also have experience working across Sub-Saharan Africa for Media Defence where I built legal and civil society capacity to engage with online expression, privacy, and digital rights challenges facing journalists and independent media. Before moving to London in 2017, I worked as Programme Officer for a Freedom of Expression and Access to Information Programme at OSF South Africa. My qualifications include an MSc in Media and Communications Governance from LSE with distinction.
