About Michael May
As a Ph.D. Candidate at Dartmouth, I\'m tackling one of our most pressing climate challenges: how to deploy carbon management effectively across the United States. Through high-resolution modeling, I analyze how geographic and economic factors—such as regional climate variation, land use, and energy costs—shape where carbon removal technologies can be deployed and what energy systems can power them.My research creates decision-relevant insights that support private investment and public policy. This work includes modeling the buildout of CO2 pipelines across multiple economic sectors, projecting the cost of direct air capture at fine spatial scales, and using integrated assessment models to explore national pathways to net-zero. These analyses directly inform infrastructure investments and policy decisions critical to meeting U.S. climate targets.I’m always eager to meet others working on similar problems. If you\'re involved in public policy, the energy sector, or carbon management, I’d love to connect.
