Manage a group of mechanical and optical designers ranging in skill from technician to seasoned veteran • Ensure continual team improvement through regular performance coaching, mentoring, evaluation and goal-setting activities • Participate in regular planning, budgeting and salary evaluation processes• Recruit new team members who will increase the team’s capability and capacity • Plan, manage and track new product development projects • Develop and improve mechanical development process and standards • Identify and promote the use of tools and techniques to maximize productivity while minimizing time to market • Manage all mechanical design and testing; including architecture, prototype and model building, tooling drawings, assembly drawings, generation of design documentation, oversight of design analysis and engineering calculations • Promote and manage leading edge development on new product lines
