About Mike Sharp
Mike is a 30-year Navy veteran, aerospace program manager, and outdoor education enthusiast.Having recently retired from both corporate and military careers, Mike is actively seeking high-impact volunteer opportunities that help preserve nature and history, support our Navy and military servicemembers, and offer personal and professional development opportunities for fellow veterans, the community, and visitors to the high country. While on active duty in the U.S. Navy Mike rapidly qualified as a surface warfare officer (nuclear trained). Transitioning to the Navy Reserve he became the “by-name” subject matter expert for air operations and planning, a coastal riverine, and an amphibious Seabee. He held command five times between Lieutenant Commander and Captain, founded the Operational Level of Warfare community of interest, led numerous Navy-wide initiatives, and ultimately served as the 2nd ever Reserve Chief of Staff for U.S. Pacific Fleet.Mike used his Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits to attend the University of Connecticut MBA program where he re-started the dormant Operations Club and graduated near the top of his class. Despite a delayed start to his corporate career Mike quickly established himself as the military aftermarket program manager for propellers at one of the most well-known propeller companies in the world, Hamilton Sundstrand (a part of United Technologies, now Raytheon). He built on this success to become the worldwide program manager for the naval variant of the T700 helicopter engine at GE Aviation. Relocating to Colorado for civilian work Mike ultimately decided to retire early from the corporate world, return to the mountains, and turn his attention to his passion for snowsports and the outdoors.
