ABOUT MICHAEL EMMENS
I am a software architect and engineer working with teams to design and develop mobile applications and the services that support them. I have 20+ years experience of software engineering, mostly working on mobile platforms and applications. As well as hands-on development, mainly in Swift, Java, Objective-C and C/C++, I also have experience of designing architectures and APIs for use in mobile applications and architecting and deploying cloud-based services to support them.I am delivery-focussed and used to working closely with customers and have a proven ability to lead teams, mentor other developers and plan and manage projects to deliver successful results. As well as enthusiasm for agile methodologies and experience of working/coaching in a team using extreme programming, I am experienced in building usable applications through consistent interaction design, user testing and incremental development, and enjoy working closely with other disciplines such as UX designers, products owners and business analysts to deliver applications that are usable and of high quality. My other interests are in improving the engineering practices of the teams I work with, particularly in the areas of CI/CD and test automation and improving the security of applications through effective threat modelling.
