About Michael Emmart
I am passionate about strengthening the connection between communities and the systems meant to serve them and also love working with companies seeking to improve outcomes through communication and culture building. My work centers on fostering collaboration and shared visioning through strengths-based approaches like Appreciative Inquiry and positive nonviolence. As a consultant, trainer, and scholar, I help organizations shift from transactional engagement to authentic partnership - where communities are not just heard but empowered. I developed the PACE framework (Prevention through Appreciative Community Engagement) to assess and enhance system predisposition for community engagement. I also co-created the WAVE model (Wonder, Appreciate, Validate, Empower) to help individuals and organizations move toward generative, nonviolent interactions. My research and program development in prevention science focus on equipping families, organizations, and leaders with the tools to foster resilience, collective efficacy, and sustainable change. My current work includes the development of a family prevention program based on WAVE and an \"appreciative resilience\" model for leadership, emphasizing adaptability and strengths-focused growth.I thrive at the intersection of theory and practice—bridging research, training, and real-world application. Whether consulting with agencies, facilitating dialogue, or teaching future leaders, my goal is to create spaces where possibility and transformation can flourish. Let’s connect to explore how we can build stronger, more connected communities and workplaces together.
