About Michael Harney
Mike has more than 20 years of experience as a geotechnical engineering expert throughout the Pacific Northwest in diverse soil and rock types. He has broad-based geotechnical engineering experience that includes studies and recommendations for projects including highway and railroad transportation infrastructure; water resources infrastructure including dams, levees and water supply; waterways, locks and seawalls; trenched and tunneled pipeline installations; wastewater treatment facilities; and geohazard assessment and mitigation. He has led the geotechnical engineering on numerous fast-track concurrent projects with various project delivery systems including Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build, and GCCM as well as leading on-call geotechnical services contracts. He has managed all aspects of geotechnical design and construction, including conceptual design recommendations, value engineering, subsurface explorations, design recommendations, project documents, and construction observation and inspection. Mike has considerable experience with public agencies that include the Unites States Army Corps of Engineers, WSDOT, the City of Seattle and many other Pacific Northwest municipalities and counties. His primary practice focus over the last few years has been on USACE civil works facilities in the Seattle and Walla Walla Districts, fish barrier removals for WSDOT and other agencies, and hydropower facilities.
