   As Director of ISOO, I am responsible to the President of the United States for policy and oversight of the government-wide: Classified National Security Information system, the Controlled Unclassified Information Program, and the National Industrial Security Program, ensuring that the government appropriately protects - and provides proper access - to information that can advance the national and public interest.In this role I also serve as the Executive Secretary of the Interagency Security Classification Appeals Panel and the Public Interest Declassification Board, as well as the Chairperson of the National Industrial Security Program Policy Advisory Committee; the State, Local, Tribal, and Private Sector Policy Advisory Committee; and the Controlled Unclassified Information Advisory Council.ISOO is a component of the National Archives and Records Administration, receiving policy and program guidance from the President and the White House National Security Council.The ISOO director is appointed by Archivist of the United States, with the approval of the President.
