ABOUT MICHAEL CADY

I build resilience before disaster strikes.I currently serve as the Safety Coordinator for Valley Cities Behavioral Health, where I oversee safety operations across fourteen facilities. My focus includes risk management, occupational safety, compliance, and continuity planning to ensure a safe and secure environment for staff and clients. For the past 18 years, I’ve owned and operated LMD Disaster Survival Kits, an online business providing survival kits, food storage, and first aid supplies. I manage every aspect of the company—from product strategy and order fulfillment to marketing and customer engagement. This long-standing entrepreneurial experience has sharpened my ability in operations leadership, process improvement, crisis communication, and community outreach, while translating complex preparedness concepts into practical solutions for individuals, families, and organizations.I also spent over five years as a Disaster Recovery Specialist with the U.S. Small Business Administration, where I supported survivors of federally declared disasters. I guided individuals and businesses through SBA’s disaster loan programs, developed written responses, and delivered presentations on FEMA, emergency management, and disaster preparedness for my co-workers. My service with SBA concluded following a federal reduction in force, but it gave me extensive experience in disaster recovery, resilience building, and interagency coordination.I hold a Master’s degree in Security and Disaster Management from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, with a concentration in Climate Security. I also earned a Bachelor’s and Associate degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management, along with certificates in Tribal Homeland Security Emergency Management and Project Management. In addition, I’m a graduate of FEMA’s National Emergency Management Advanced Academy (NEMAA).My mission is to use my skills, knowledge, and leadership to strengthen preparedness, response, and recovery efforts—helping individuals, organizations, and communities build lasting resilience against disasters. I’m open to connecting with organizations seeking proven leaders in Emergency Management, Safety, Risk Mitigation, and Disaster Preparedness at the senior level.
