Mike established his own business, Astwood Group, 15 years ago, specialising initially in consultancy projects for clients before steadily growing its own business activities. In that time, Astwood has been involved in the following:• Lead the research, business, operations, and management of a first-in-the-world type of research facility in the fast-growing sector of vertical farming food production. Subsequently joined the purchaser of this facility as Managing Director, stepping back following the closing of a £50m funding raising round in 2022 (see link below) • Advisor to Multiple Businesses – Advised the management teams and sat as a non-executive director on a range of businesses, including development businesses focused on developing over 100 property and grid connection development schemes and a national landowner with a portfolio of operational sites across the country. • Investment Support - Built investment models and managed project pipelines for private investors and various institutional investment funds & private equity investors.• Consultancy Advice & Project Support - Provided a range of consultancy services and project support to private and public sector clients.Astwood is now focused on long-term SME acquisitions in the Midlands and is the proud owner of Cross & Morse, a manufacturer and distributor of power transmission solutions with a heritage of 150 years of trading.
