During my initial career as a broadcast journalist in Los Angeles, I became fascinated by the emerging fields of Emotional Intelligence and Relationship Management. In 1987, my broadcasting career became an avocation as I launched my \"Personal Development Strategies\" training to address the most critical personnel problems in the workplace — poor self-awareness and the consequential lack of vision, motivation, empathy, effective communication, and basic leadership skills. I designed three basic programs — \"Fearless Intelligence,\"\"Feeling Like Yourself,\" and \"Smarter than You Think\" — to teach mindful self-awareness, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, peak performance, and relationship management to C-suite executives and their leadership teams. Our \"Internal Vigilance\" training was commissioned by the Orange County Sheriff\'s Academy in Anaheim, CA, where it became a groundbreaking introduction to self-awareness for law enforcement personnel.
