ABOUT MICHAEL ANDRÉ PEARCE

My current role is Technical Architect for Messaging and Big Data, since 2014. My primary role is leading and evolving the architecture in these areas along with my colleagues.In my role as Messaging Architect i work with platform and development teams on Kafka, ActiveMQ(Artemis) and building IG\'s Enterprise Messaging strategy moving forwards. Which closely ties in with my other role, as the area of Big Data is moving rapidly into the Streaming space. I am a PMC member and committer to Apache ActiveMQ and contribute to Apache Kafka most notably introducing native headers under kip-82. As Big Data Architect I work with our data services and development teams on the Hadoop eco-sphere, HDFS, Spark/SparkStreaming, Hive, Hawq, HBase, Ignite and Tableau. Originally simply a batch based data lake for reporting moving rapidly to a big data streaming platform for streaming applications, realtime predictions and more realtime reporting.As noted the two area\'s have a significant intersection at this time, as the strategies converge, making this increasingly interesting area to work.I still act as an advisory architect in the middleware development areas also.Previously I was a Technical Architect in the middleware tier, focused on system performance utilising APM solutions, HA and DR, systems integration, build and deployment efficiencies, and cross system technology rollout and upgrades. I worked mostly with Java EE platform solutions in a Linux environment, EJB and Spring technology, with EAI and SOA approaches. Though not limited to, and regularly enjoy working with new Technology learning and adopting.
