ABOUT MICHAELA ORTIZ

As a Registered Nurse in the Neuroscience ICU at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, I provide critical care to patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions. With previous experience in post-op vascular care at Lifespan, I’ve developed a strong foundation in acute patient care, medication administration, and emergency response in high-pressure environments.In addition to bedside nursing, I’ve contributed to nursing research and safety initiatives, including an evidence-based practice project focused on workplace violence. My team’s PICO question explored: In nursing staff, do structured de-escalation training programs compared to no formal training reduce the incidence of workplace violence and improve patient outcomes? This work reflects my deep commitment to fostering safer environments for both staff and patients.I am committed to lifelong learning and professional development, with a particular interest in stroke management, trauma-informed care, and advancing best practices in critical care nursing.Let’s connect — I’m always open to growing my network and learning from others in the healthcare community.
