About Michael Zenker

Michael Zenker is working part time as a Managing Director of energy market analysis with NextEra Energy Resources. At NextEra, he works with the firm’s fundamental research team on power, natural gas, liquefied natural gas, natural gas liquids, oil, oil products, and related markets. Michael has been active in the energy markets for over 25 years. Previously, he was a Managing Director of gas and power research with Barclays, and Managing Director overseeing global gas and global power research with Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA). Prior to those positions, he led the gas and power trading and system dispatch organization for Southern California Edison. He has prepared/delivered written reports and presentations on the natural gas, power, coal, and oil markets to a wide variety of audiences. Mr. Zenker has testified before the U.S. Congress, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the California Public Utilities Commission, and has been a frequent contributor to energy industry publications and events. He has appeared on television, in print media and on radio. Mr. Zenker has a Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, and an MBA, both from the University of California, and is a registered professional engineer in nuclear engineering.

Primary customer-facing market analyst to present the NextEra\'s views on the markets. This includes broad industry outlooks, regional analyses and bespoke granular market assessments. Also involved in company asset valuation and risk management. Most recently Managing Director of SASCO Energy, and prior to that, Managing Director of Energy Research for Barclays Capital, leading the bank’s research on the natural gas, electric power, and LNG markets. Developed a wide range of analytical models and tools to assess energy markets, and prepared/delivered presentations and written reports on the natural gas, electric power, coal, and oil markets to a wide variety of audiences/readers. Appeared on television (CNN, ABC, NBC, CBC, CNBC), in print media (newspapers, magazines and industry publications) and on radio.
