ABOUT MICHAEL TUTTLE
Dr. Michael Tuttle has over 30 years of nautical archaeology, remote sensing studies, and maritime history experience. He has participated in well over 200 projects ranging from Phase I remote sensing surveys to Phase II testing through to Phase shipwreck site recordation. He has conducted research in diverse geographical areas such as New England, Alaska, Hawaii, along the East and Gulf Coasts of the United States, the Great Lakes and Western Rivers, as well as the Caribbean, Europe, the Pacific and Africa. Dr. Tuttle has completed marine archaeological projects for federal agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, and has worked with numerous State Historical Preservation Offices and other organizations on maritime issues. Additionally, his international experience has ranged from academic institutions and NGOs to direct ministerial level interactions. Dr. Tuttle’s experience in conducting and directing maritime research in various regions around the country and world has given him a thorough understanding of the requirements and particular needs associated with maritime investigations in any environment.Dr. Tuttle has recently transitioned back to the CRM world after a few years in academics where he taught American and Public history at Austin Peay State University.
