About Michael Terracina

Starting July 10, 2023, I joined Opportune as Senior Partner-in-Charge of Tax. Opportune is a leading global business advisory firm focused on adding value to clients across multiple industries with preeminence in energy. I am a client-focused tax professional with vast experience helping public and private companies navigate complex business and tax issues. I specialize in tax planning, compliance, and accounting with a focus on the global energy industry. In September of 2021, I retired as Partner-in-Charge of KPMG’s Houston office where I managed all aspects of the tax practice. During my tenure, I led a team that doubled revenue and profits and expanded the firm’s footprint within the Fortune 250 and large global multinationals. I concurrently directed the firm’s tax services for the energy industry as the US Tax Industry Leader and later assumed the role of Global Tax Leader, providing firm-wide leadership and overall business strategy for this market segment. As an author and subject matter expert, I was a frequent speaker at industry events and a founding member of KPMG’s Annual Global Energy Conference. Outside of my career I serve on multiple not-for-profit boards and currently serve as a Board Member and the Chair of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston Finance Committee and an Accounting Advisory Board Member for my alma mater, Louisiana Tech University. I also have a personal passion for music and theater, which I express through playwrighting and serving as an Executive Committee Board Member and Audit Committee Chair for the Alley Theatre in Houston.
