ABOUT MICHAEL STEEL
I have founded, led the development of, and successfully sold two different businesses - in consulting and, more recently, in healthcare. I am now Chair of DemDx, a healthtech start-up, that I have invested in and supported the management team of for 3 years. I advise a number of other healthtech start-ups and angel invest in health and other exciting new UK businesses outside of health. I work as volunteer with CW+, the charity arm of Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, on their Best For You programme where I lead on developing a network of community hubs to support young people with mental health needs. Formerly, CEO of SHiFT, a start-up charity that is breaking the destructive cycle of children and young people committing crimes and supporting them to make a positive contribution to society and build better lives for themselves.Prior to this, COO and Board member of AIM listed healthcare provider Totally PLC following the successful sale of Greenbrook Healthcare, a primary healthcare organisation which I founded and led the development of. At the point of acquisition in June 2019, Greenbrook was a £40m+ turnover, profitable and highly respected provider of urgent care services to the NHS, employing more than 700 staff. Previous experience in strategy consulting, predominantly growth-oriented work, for blue-chip organisations across the world. In addition to being a Partner at Roland Berger and a project manager at Booz Allen & Hamilton, I also founded and built a 30 person advisory business with 3 other colleagues from Booz Allen which we successfully sold to Roland Berger.
