Technical Lead Mechanical Engineer (July 2023 - Present) Senior Mechanical Engineer (July 2019 - July 2023) Mechanical Engineer 2B (November 2016 - July 2019) • Collaborate and adds value through participation in design reviews, providing comments and suggestions on mechanical engineering designs • Mockup and test basic mechanical systems to verify compliance with design requirements • Interface with Electrical Engineers, Industrial Designers, and toolmakers to manage basic tradeoffs between process, production, appearance and performance • Make estimates on tooling, part cost and design time for basic to complex mechanical designs • Communicate with vendors that produce custom mechanical parts as required • Specify test plans to validate moderately complex systems • Create new tests to benchmark existing systems against new technologies or methodologies under developement • Possess knowledge of injection modling, die casting, sheet metal stamping, machining processes, etc. • Through knowledge of preferred part materials for part production and performance, including but not limited to plastics, composites, steels, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, MIM and PM specific alloys • Familiarity with industry and Garmin product qualification tests (environmental and others) Including MIL-STD-810 • Possess a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with vendors that produce custom mechanical parts • Work collaboratively and professionally on cross functional teams to achieve goals • Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques • Serve as a mentor to less experienced Mechanical Engineers
