About Michael Silver

I\'ve led Universal\'s licensing of the biggest entertainment brands in the world, including Harry Potter, Nintendo, Transformers and many more. I also headed all our dealmaking for the Universal Beijing Resort and have overseen many other complex international transactions, including in Japan, Singapore, Dubai, Korea, Saudi Arabia and elsewhere. By building and empowering Universal\'s live and location-based entertainment team, my group was able to go from losses to 8-figure profits within four years through a relentless focus on quality and execution. We built strong and collaborative relationships with our stakeholders at all levels, grew with our licensees as they scaled their operations, and kept Universal\'s brands alive between film and television releases. As an experienced business and legal affairs executive, I was able to structure, negotiate and document transactions substantially on my own, enabling my team to close transactions and bring experiences to market much more quickly and efficiently than is usually the case with Hollywood studios. My extensive experience on both the licensor and licensee sides contributed to my ability to negotiate creative and reasonable compromises to even the most intractable of client and counterparty positions. I believe that unlike fine wine, the passage of time is rarely conducive to getting deals done, and I try my best to complete transactions as expeditiously as possible without sacrificing quality.
