Co-Founder and CEO of Lunar Door, Michael is an award-winning filmmaker. His work has earned 90 international awards and 38 nominations, including 13 Best Director wins. Based in Los Angeles and Austin, Lunar Door is an independent production company that produces feature films, documentaries, TV series, graphic novels, and branded content.Michael\'s recent work includes the drama \"The Fall\"(producer), the social justice documentary \"Tears of the Field\"(writer / director / producer), and the sports documentary \"Tracing the Divide\"(producer). He is currently attached to direct three features:\"Ashes\",\"Cane\", and \"The Sins of My Father\", based on his memoir, which takes an introspective look at growing up with an absentee, alcoholic, mentally ill father.A graduate of the USC’s School of Cinematic Arts (MFA in Screenwriting), Michael worked on over 100 advertising campaigns (including Nike, American Express, Volvo, Walmart, Ford, Target, Chrysler, Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes Benz), working with directors such as Jesse Dylan (American Wedding, Kicking & Screaming), James Frost (Radiohead’s “House of Cards”, OK Go’s “This Too Shall Pass”), and Steven Tsuchida (Community, New Girl, Sirens).In 2010, Michael co-founded The Script Lab, a screenwriting resource and entertainment news outlet, designed for writers, filmmakers, and creators. As President and Editorial Director, he developed content that helped The Script Lab gain brand recognition as an industry leader, providing high-quality E-learning and industry education to millions worldwide. In 2014, The Script Lab was acquired by TSL Media, Inc, and Schilf stayed on as an Educational Consultant. Michael is also co-creator and writer of \"Light,\" a sci-fi, action, crime series; co-creator and writer of \"Sworn,\" a fantasy, action, adventure series; and writer/director/producer of the award-winning short film \"The Fixer,\" co-starring Jesse C. Boyd and Danny Trejo.
