When time allows for more selfish pursuits … I am a gamer, through and through. Board games. Video games. Role playing games. I visit my brother in Indiana because Gen Con is in Indianapolis!WHAT MAKES ME TICK?In Meyers Briggs parlance, I’m an evolved ISTJ who has learned to enjoy the role of leadership in organizational success.WHAT AM I DOING TODAY?Just recently began as an Assistant County Administrator with Broward County. I am looking forward to helping the County Administrator and Board of Commissioners provide outstanding government services to the residents and visitors of the county, who include my family and my friends.FAVORITE PERSONAL VICTORYAfter years of undergraduate classroom instruction, at age 21 I conquered my fear of the unknown and traveled to Taipei, Taiwan, spending nearly six months studying Mandarin Chinese, giving me proficiency in the world’s three great languages: English, Spanish, and Mandarin.MOST IMPACTFUL PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCEOn June 25, 2021 I answered a telephone call to assist administrators and first responders with the response to the partial collapse of the Champlain Towers South condominium building in Surfside, Florida. Over the next eleven months, I oversaw contracts and operations for demolition, hauling, monitoring, and searching for both victim remains and personal property. It was the honor of my career to support the men and women of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, Miami-Dade Police Department, and the myriad responding agencies. I hope we brought some small measure of respite to the surviving victims, families of those tragically lost, and all the friends, colleagues, and community members shaken by the tragic event.
