After working as part of a team on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Curriculum research, I was able to become a student leader of my own team. Working on a continuation of my past findings, I now managed a team of 4-5 other undergraduate students. As a leader I was able to manage data, coordinate team findings and effectively direct us towards new findings.

ABOUT MICHAEL RUEGGER
As part of a prestigious 4+1 program, I am currently on tract to receive both my Bachelors and Masters degree by 2024. My undergrad major is Political Science, while I will be receiving my Masters in a more specific domain, Public Policy. Both of these degrees, as well as the coursework I have done, emphasize my interests and future goals. During my time in undergrad, I have worked on an exclusive research team alongside my department chair, focusing on effective pedagogical approaches for underserved students. With limited research done in this area of study, this position has equipped me with the skills to research, collect and manage data, especially when it is scarce. Not only have I enhanced my technical skills, but the overall mission of this project has deepened my passion for helping the less represented, which I will carry on throughout my career path. I also have completed my certification in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and have developed a strong skillset with the program. In the process of attaining this certificate, I have completed multiple, large scale projects that utilize a combination of GIS software and techniques to analyze varying research topics surrounding environmental racism.
