Overseeing 16 Level 3 Regional ICU Beds with 90 staff and serving the communities of Hamilton, Niagara, Haldimand and Brant. We provide Quaternary Cardiac Surgical Care to 0ver 1800 patients annually including Complex Arch and Aortic procedures, minimally invasive bypass and valve repair/replacement. We are also the regional centre for complex heart faliure including surgical modalities such as Impella and Extra-Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO).

ABOUT MICHAEL PLAUNT
Mike is responsible for managing the operations and leading the multidisciplinary team in the CCU. As the only Level 3 CCU in the HNHB LHIN, the CCU supports the region in the management of complex cardiovascular diseases, the regional STEMI program, as well as the interventional and medical cardiology programs at Hamilton Health Sciences. This fast paced, high volume unit is capable of providing patients with the highest level of invasive treatments and monitoring, access to ground breaking research, and access to numerous sub-specialty medical services on site.
