About Michael P. Jackson

Michael P. Jackson began service with the Pasadena Police Department on March 26, 1979. He is a graduate of William P. Hobby School of Public Affairs at the University of Houston and received the designation of Certified Public Manager from the State of Texas during the month of June of 2020. Michael is a graduate of the University of Houston-Downtown, Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas, Leadership and Command College (LCC), FBI LEEDA Trilogy Award, and the FBI National Academy/ Session 227. He served as a field training officer prior to being promoted to Sergeant in 1983. Upon promotion, he served for three and half years in the Detective Division, prior to being assigned to the Internal Affairs Division for an additional three and half years. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1991 and was assigned to the Patrol Division for five and half years. He served as Patrol Commander for the Day Shift, Evening Shift, and Night Shift, and assisted in the development, implementation, and became the first commander for the Gang Task Force, Resident Officer Program, DOT/ Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, and Citizen’s Patrol Project. He transferred to the Narcotics Division & assisted with the development and implementation of Operation Safe Home, a partnership with Department of Housing and Urban Development, to reduce narcotics activity in federally subsidized apartments in Pasadena. He transferred to the Special Investigations Division in April where he assumed command of the Juvenile, Auto Theft, and Domestic Violence Units. He assumed additional responsibilities of the Gang Task Force and later DART unit. He assisted with the development, implementation, and became the first commander for the Community Defense Unit, Financial Crimes, Project Spotlight, Fugitive Investigations Unit. Michael was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police in 2005 and assumed command of the Investigations and Support Bureaus.
