ABOUT MICHAEL ORAM

I am a self- motivated, delivery focused compliance professional with over 27 years’ experience in the financial services industry, 10 years of which is in Compliance. I am an enthusiastic and respected team player with an expertise in financial promotions underpinned with excellent communication skills, experience in developing mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders and a track record for providing quality advice, guidance and practical and effective solutions within a highly regulated environment.I was previously the sole financial promotions subject matter expert (SME) for the Wealth Division of the RBS Group in the UK consisting of Coutts & Co and Adam & Co. During that time I-Provided a focal point for regulatory expertise to the business, to both operations and marketing, as well as to regulatory and legal colleagues across the division.Established a robust approvals process, flexible to address regulatory change and industry developments, allowing the Division to successfully market a wide range of banking and complex investment products without attracting any regulatory censure during my term.Built strong personal relationships across the business, supporting marketing in their plans.Provided structured training to marketing and legal staff on regulatory requirements and industry learnings to ensure our financial promotions were compliant and customer focused.Contributed to significant regulatory projects such as MiFID, and to regulatory consultations, providing guidance on potential risks and impacts on the promotion of products and services.Analysed industry fines and censure to assess and share learnings and also test our own approval process for any potential weakness.
