ABOUT MICHAEL FERGUSON

My very first job as a newspaper carrier taught me some useful business lessons. I faced two key challenges:1. The weight of the papers was significant for a lanky kid like me.2. Delivering the newsprint intact despite Maine weather, especially our winters.Though the canvas bag issued by the newspaper had a flap to cover the papers, even at an early age, I knew there had to be a better way. After brainstorming with my parents, we modified a wheeled cart with thick plastic film. My load was lifted, and the positive feedback provided by my customers was instantaneous.Goal achieved, lessons learned, and fire ignited! Those early days have passed but my interest in finding better ways has only expanded to meet the growing complexities of business challenges faced. And rather than newspapers, my passion is delivering value and positive outcomes to employers and customers by regularly reviewing processes, services, and products to identify opportunities for improvement.My why? People. People matter. To be successful, every organization must effectively serve others. And I was drawn to leadership because I believe that we, as humans, reach our greatest capacity to serve others when we are treated well ourselves. The results speak for themselves when inspired team members are respected and appreciated and given the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful manner.I thrive on the palpable energy generated through collaboration, whether leading internal teams to define goals or conversing with vendors to develop and implement solutions. I enjoy celebrating cost savings, improved efficiencies, and the increased trust among colleagues that follows a successful team effort.
