ABOUT MICHAEL MENDICK
I’m the District Engineer for the Connecticut Department of Transportation\'s District 5 Construction office, overseeing the construction of capital construction projects for public transportation and major facilities. In this role I lead the Department\'s construction project management efforts overseeing a team of both in-house and outside consultant engineers tasked to deliver projects both on time and under budget, including the WALK Bridge Program, and the New Haven Rail Yard Facilities Improvement Program, serving the country\'s busiest commuter rail line, Metro-North\'s New Haven Line.Previously, as the Assistant District Engineer for District 1A, in addition to the New Haven Rail Yard Program, I managed construction of the Berlin, Wallingford, and Meriden stations for the Department’s new regional passenger rail service as well as newly opened Watertown Bus Maintenance Facility. Before joining District 1A, I worked as a Supervising Engineer in our District 4 office on the construction of Connecticut\'s first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, CTfastrak. This $567MM, 9.4 mile project has had a transformative effect on the Central Connecticut region, spurring economic development along the guideway.I’m truly passionate about my work and always eager to connect with other project managers. While I enjoy all aspects of my job, I especially like implementing new and innovative approaches to the construction industry such as Accelerated Bridge Construction, e-construction, as well as the Department\'s pilot Construction Manager at Risk (CMaR) project. I have an BS in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and have been a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Connecticut since and a Certified Construction Manager since 2015.I’m always interested in hearing from former colleagues, managers, or industry folk, so feel free to contact me if you’d like to connect.
