ABOUT MICHAEL MASHFORD
I spent 17 years in the Army, it set me up to be the person I am today I was already prompt having been told by my Father that \"It\'s impolite to be late\" which I kept with me all my life, I would rather be 2 hours early than 1 minute late. I have vast ammount of varied experience and consider myself as a professional H&S exponent. I work well in a team as I joined a cavalry regiment where 3 men can live in a small aluminium tank for weeks on end, you need to be able to get along. I served in the 13th/18th Royal Hussars & later in the Light Dragoons when my regiment amalgamated in the early 90\'s I decided to use my army skills to my advantage I was a class 1 (specialist) as a tank mechanic Medic & radio Op which was quite good going, I reached the rank of Corporal with an exemplory rating before deciding to take redundancy & find a life away from the Army. I chose offshore Medic as my 1st line, I had the minimum qualification to attend an Offshore Medics course which I easily passed I then got work through various companies finally with Transocean for many years. As Medic you deal with all the incidents that happen & it was after one such injury I thought I could stop this if only I was on the Safety side of things, I put myself through my NEBOSH NGC & some years later as many were made redundant, I found work quickly using my main skills & worked hard to gain a positve reputation with various agencies & finally taking full time employment with Hercules. I worked with Zennor petroleum on a short term contract I had a great time helping to produce some good safe times on the rig dealing with a DECC audit. I have worked on different Top tear COMAH sites BP at Salt end and AFCO at Scunthorpe and I never stop learning. I enjoy what I do, I am good with people & like to interact even if that means having to tell them something they don\'t want to but need to hear which can be difficult at times but very rewarding when it goes well.
