Experience

  1. Director of Urban and Community Forestry-us

    Sustainable Forestry Initiative

Feb 2024 — Present · Philadelphia, PA, US

As the U.S. Director of Urban and Community Forestry at SFI, I lead efforts to expand urban forestry capacity, sustainability, and equity across the country. I work with communities, campuses, corporations, and partner organizations to support healthy and resilient urban forests that align with local climate, equity, and sustainability goals.I oversee the implementation of the SFI Urban and Community Forest Sustainability Standard—helping cities and organizations build pathways toward third-party certification or continuous improvement. I also lead the USDA Forest Service-funded SFI Urban Forest Improvement Program, delivering technical and financial assistance to communities nationwide. My work includes building cross-sector partnerships, supporting strategic outreach, and creating resources for long-term urban forest planning and impact. I engage with local governments, nonprofits, utilities, and universities to embed urban forestry into broader policy, funding, and environmental frameworks.I also lead workforce development initiatives aimed at expanding career pathways in urban and community forestry. This includes designing mentorship opportunities and increasing access to green careers for young and emerging professionals, especially those from historically underserved communities.Throughout all initiatives, I work to ensure urban forestry efforts are inclusive, community-centered, and aligned with national priorities such as the Justice40 Initiative and Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CJEST). I represent SFI at conferences, policy discussions, and advisory forums, working to elevate the role of urban forests in community health, climate resilience, and sustainability planning.
