About Michael Maroney

I am a commercial litigator in the Boston office of Holland & Knight. I have over 23 years of experience litigating complex, high exposure cases throughout the United States. I represent national and international companies in individual and class actions in state and federal trial and appellate courts and arbitrations in a wide variety of matters, including breach of contract, fraud, tortious interference, civil conspiracy, unfair and deceptive trade practices under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 93A, product liability, data privacy, real estate, employment and environmental litigation.In addition to managing active litigation matters, I am a trusted advisor to internal and external partners and management teams, and I frequently provide counseling to clients on the legal implications of proposed transactions and restructuring of their business models. My big picture, business-oriented approach helps clients minimize litigation risk, find practical, cost-effective solutions to complex legal problems, and grow their business. I am a graduate of the YW Boston’s LeadBoston executive leadership program, and the former Chair of the Judicial Administration Section Council of the Massachusetts Bar Association.Prior to joining Holland & Knight, I was a litigation associate at a law firm in New York City, and I served as a law clerk to the Honorable George A. O\'Toole Jr, of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. I also worked as a Grants Program Manager for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. I obtained my law and master’s degrees from Syracuse University, and my bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, where I was a four-year letterman on the lacrosse team and a drummer in a local band.
