About Michael Manwaring
Michael Manwaring is a passionate advocate for hydropower, pumped storage and other energy storage technologies. He has nearly 25 years of technical and management experience in the water resources, hydropower and dams profession, with a deep understanding of the planning, geotechnical and engineering design, construction management, operation and power markets for hydroelectric and pumped storage facilities. In his role as a Principal Power and Energy Consultant at Stantec, he works across energy and water-related business lines for key utility and infrastructure clients in the U.S and Canada. Michael is based in Seattle, Washington and has worked on projects in every U.S. state and four Canadian provinces. Michael also serves on the Board of Directors for both the National Hydropower Association and Hydropower Foundation, and formerly served on the Board of Directors for Northwest Hydroelectric Association. Michael has also served as the Chair of the National Hydropower Association\'s Pumped Storage Development Council. Michael a Registered Professional Geologist in the State California. In addition, he has prepared and managed the development of FERC, NEPA, and CEQA documents, worked directly with multiple state and federal agency staff, and has presented on behalf of the hydropower industry to the U.S. DOE, FERC, various energy commissions, and other regulatory entities.Specialties: Hydropower, pumped storage, water resources, design-build, energy storage, renewable energy integration, regulatory (FERC, CEQA, NEPA), licensing, relicensing, geotechnical and geological, EIR/EIS, and water resources projects.
