ABOUT MICHAEL MALONEY
With my colleague, Eric Haughton, I amalgamated Behavior Analysis, Direct Instruction and Precision Teaching into a powerful learning system, now known as the Maloney Method. Having been turfed from my local school district in 1978 for fermenting too much change, I created the first private, for-profit behaviorally-based learning centre and school in North America for children at-risk of school failure. Our students consistently gained 2 years of academic growth per year as measured by standardized tests. I have helped start 25 more schools and learning centres since and am available to consult with individuals who want to create one (or 10). Now I create, publish and market proven effective methods as a series of 30 educational books, cds and software. My aim is to make empirically-proven methods commonplace in education. For 5 years, I taught a distance education course at University of West Florida\'s ABA dept - A Model for Education, outlining the features of the behavioral components of Maloney Method. I was named Canada\'s National Literacy Educator in 1970, joined Rotary, started my club\'s literacy committee, and 2 literacy projects, one at our local YMCA and another in slums of Dhaka, Bangladesh using cell phones, the Internet, our software and slum-dwelling mothers as tutors for desperately poor kids. I am the author of an award-winning, best-selling book on education,\"Teach Your Children Well\".
