About Michael Kruger

I am a driven aeronautical and mechanical engineer who believes that many of today\'s most important problems can be solved with the strategic application of the right technologies,which in turn are built off of fundamental science and research.Currently pursuing my research interest in applied aerodynamics working in the Dryden wind tunnel at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. My responsibilities include commissioning the newly installed test section with its range of data acquisition and control equipment. For this, I designed and had fabricated a high quality solid aluminum wing with upper and lower surface pressure taps, which we are currently testing. I am also working on a blown lift experiment with a wing being designed and fabricated in-house.I recently completed my PhD in aerospace engineering, where my research looked at conceptual aircraft design and the potential benefits of electric aircraft propulsion, looking at the large design space of missions and propulsion system electrification strategies.Through my Bachelors and Masters degrees in mechanical engineering, I have received a strong technical foundation, which I have built on and expanded during my experience in the more specialized field of aeronautical engineering during my PhD studies.In my spare time, I like to build and fly model aircraft, as well as tinker with many technical side projects in which I apply many of the academic skills I have learnt in the real world.
