ABOUT MICHAEL KERR

It has been my honor to help work and grow some of the most notable success stories in Alberta and BC across many sectors. Although I have recently retired from full time employment to move closer to family, I am still engaged in supporting innovative firms and educating the next generation of business leaders across western Canada.I bring over 28 years of experience to help innovatve companies grow/ commercialize their technology. I do this via coaching (technical and business advice), networking (national and international networks) and capital (via links to funding programs). After spending 8 years in chemical processing, I moved to the National Research Council as advisor to innovative technology firms (13 years). My experience through Northern BC was diverse - covering sectors such as Bioenergy (help start the International Bioenergy Conference), forestry, manufacturing, agriculture, IT, oil and gas, clean energy and some marine applications. I have been with Alberta Innovates since 2012 (retired May 2025), focused mainly in the oil and gas, manufacturing, health, environmental and agriculture sectors. The focus of my work has been on efficiency/ productivity including lean and quality management.I have spent some time as part time instructor at undergraduate and graduate levels in operations, marketing, entrepreneurship and international business. I currently instruct Innovation and Entrepreneurship at MRU and Strategic Implementation with UNBC MBA Program. In addition I have been Chamber of Commerce President and member of many NFP boards.Awards have included: AStech - Alberta Wide Community Champion- Leadership, Mentor of the Year for Northern BC and Citizen of the Year for Prince George. I have also been Awarded the Lifetime Achievement at the International Bioenergy Conference in BC. I have been a judge since inception of the Global Energy Show Awards in Calgary.I focus on success for those I work with and give back to any community where I live.
