About Michael Jay Solomon

For 40 years, Michael Jay Solomon has pioneered the international marketplace for the American television industry, as well as running major media companies.At 18, he began his career loading films onto trucks for United Artists while attending NYU at night. In 1960 UA sent him to Panama to open the territory for American films in Central America. He next moved to Columbia, and thereafter to Peru, as Manager of Peru and Bolivia.He was then hired by MCA/Universal to open their Latin American television division, becoming a Vice President at age thirty, living in Mexico and Brazil.In 1978 he founded Telepictures Corp, and as Chairman and CEO took it public after 14 months. Seven years later, Telepictures merged with Lorimar to form Lorimar-Telepictures Corp. He became President. The company produced such TV series as Dallas, Falcon Crest, Knot’s Landing and Alf.After Warner Bros. acquired Lorimar-Telepictures, he became President of Warner Bros. International, heading up sales and marketing to television, cable and satellite.After five years at Warner Bros, he increased international television revenues by more than 400 percent, launchiing his own television communications company, Solomon Entertainment Enterprises. He founded Truli Media Group in 2010 as a digital platform and aggregator of content, focusing on family and faith, eventually selling it to Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment.Since 2018 he has been a Founder and Chairman of Involvy AB, an advisory firm based in Sweden with consultants in different European countries and in the U.S, that partners with developing companies to nuture growth and support expansion.He serves as Senior Advisor to GFM Animation in the UK, and Kartoon Studios, the controlling partner of Stan Lee Universe. He formed a partnership between them to develop, finance and produce five animated features based on characters created by Stan Lee.In 2024, he was appointed Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Board of Advisors to Phantom Space, a company founded in 2019. It became the first 100% U.S. based satellite supply chain, in an effort to mass produce rockets on a large scale.He served on the Board of Overseers of New York University’s Stern School of Business for 33 years. He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Law degree from Emerson College in May 1991 and in October 2019 he was appointed to their Board of Advisors.
